BARC SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM – JUNE 25-JULY 13, 2012

The Ballston Area Recreation Commission will offer summer enrichment classes Monday through Friday, June 25th through July 13th in the MILTON TERRACE NORTH SCHOOL from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Classes are free to students who reside in the Ballston Spa school district and are ENTERING Kindergarten through eighth grade in September 2012. 

REGISTRATION  will be held FROM 7:00 – 8:30 PM, MONDAY, MAY 21, 2012  in the WOOD ROAD SCHOOL  CAFETERIA.

EACH CHILD MAY REGISTER FOR 2 CLASSSES.  Classes fill quickly.  Those at registration have first choice.  If you have any questions call Joan Brown, director, at 885-1634 or E-Mail barc_rec@verizon.net.  TRANSPORTATION IS NOT PROVIDED.

BARC 2012 TENNIS CAMP

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE BARC SUMMER TENNIS CAMP WILL OPEN MAY 12TH  and CLOSE, JUNE 15TH . A late fee of $10.00 will be assessed after June 15th  if there is space. Class size is limited. Cost: $35.00 per child for one session.  A discounted $55.00 to register for BOTH sessions.

Session 2:

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings: August 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, & 16

Time: 6:00-7:30PM

Where: Tennis courts behind the Ballston Spa Middle School                     

1.To be eligible children must be residents of the Ballston Spa school district and  ENTERING Grades 3 through 8 in September. 

2. The purpose of this camp is to introduce tennis to those who have never played and to enhance skills of

    those who have some knowledge of the game. Participants will be separated into groups according to

    experience.

  • PLAYERS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN TENNIS RACKET.
  • BRINGING A WATER BOTTLE AND APPLYING BUG SPRAY BEFORE LESSONS IS SUGGESTED.
  • WE WILL BE ON SCHOOL PROPERTY SO SCHOOL RULES APPLY AS TO NO ANIMALS, SMOKING, OR ALCOHOL.

BARC 2012 TRACK AND FIELD REGISTRATION

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR BARC TRACK AND FIELD WILL OPEN MAY 1st   and CLOSE June 1st .

¨    Log onto www.ballstonarearec.org and go to the online registration. 

¨    If you have already created an online account, you will be able to access the information used from your last registration. 

¨    IF YOUR PHONE NUMBER, ADDRESS, OR ANY IMPORTANT INFORMATION HAS CHANGED, PLEASE UPDATE IT. 

¨    IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED ONLINE FOR A BARC PROGRAM PRIOR TO THIS, YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND REGISTER.  REMEMBER TO CHECK OUT.

There is a cost of $22.00 per child; $40.00 for a family of two children;  with a cap of $50.00 for a family of three or more children.  A late fee of $10.00 will be added to registrations after June 1st .      

¨      To be eligible, children must be residents of the Ballston Spa School District and        ENTERING GRADES 3 THROUGH 9 in September of 2012.   

¨      There will be 5 sessions on successive WEDNESDAYS from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, EXCLUDING July 4, at the Ballston Spa High School TrackDATES: June 20, 27 and JULY 11, 18, and 25.

¨      The first 4 sessions will consist of learning stations, which will expose students to the various track and field events, as well as introduce them to the lifetime fitness benefits of running.

¨      The last session will consist of a “fun” track meet.

¨      The program will be non-competitive and will emphasize the teaching of the fundamentals of running and field events.

 

BARC 2012 SUMMER SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION

BARC 2012 Summer Swim Team Registration (Age bracketed, co-ed competitive swimming & diving team) 

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE BARC SUMMER SWIM TEAM WILL OPEN APRIL 1, 2012 and CLOSE, APRIL 27th . A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed after this time if there is space. Team size is limited to the first 100 registered swimmers. Log onto www.ballstonarearec.org and go to the online registration. Cost: $90.00 per child for the first two swimmers in a family, $50.00 for the third and fourth swimmers in a family. The fee will be used to cover coaching and lifeguard expenses. A limited number of scholarships will be available. The team will compete in the Suburban Swim League this summer.

THESE ARE NOT SWIM LESSONS! PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT WILL BE EXPECTED.

Help is needed with transportation, locker room supervision, meet organizational tasks, etc.

1.To be eligible children must be residents of the Ballston Spa school district and  ENTERING Kindergarten through twelfth grade or a June 2012 BSHS graduate. 

2. Children must be able to SWIM one length of the pool (25 yards) WITHOUT FLOATATION DEVICES AND WITHOUT STOPPING

3. Team attire will be cap, goggles, and swimsuit. (Optional Team Suit cost: Approx.$50 female/$32 male             

4. Practices are tentatively scheduled for 2 times a week in the afternoons from May 29th through June 21st.

5. Morning practices will be held 4 times per week (Monday-Thursday) beginning June 25th through August 1st.

6. Most meets will be held Thursday evenings.

7. The Suburban League Swim Championship Meet will be held on August 3rd and 4th. Diving Championships will be held on August 1st.
