PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
T-BALL- Children entering K& 1st grades hit from a T and are introduced to basics of
“regular” baseball.
INSTRUCTIONAL BASEBALL – An adult pitches to the player. It is the next step in
preparing for “regular” baseball. Children entering
grades 1-3 are eligible. However, those entering 1st
grades must have one year of T-Ball. This is not a
requirement for those entering grades 2 & 3.
SOCCER – This sport is played in both spring and fall. In the spring those entering
grades K-9 in September are eligible to play. In the fall those in grades
K-9 are eligible to play but if on the school team they can not play BARC.
Practices/games are played on the Eastern Ave. Recreation field. Players learn
organized soccer.
ENRICHMENT CLASSES – The Saturday classes are held from 10- noon
in both the fall and winter. In the summer, classes
are held Monday through Friday from 10-noon for 3
weeks. Science, sign language, gymnastics, arts & crafts,
tae kwon do, cooking, etc. are offered. Each class is one
hour long and students may choose 2 classes. The
offerings change and listed are just a few samples.
BASKETBALL- Boys and girls in grades 3-9 are eligible to participate in this program.
There are separate boy and girl teams. Players in the beginning level
are introduced to basketball and as the grade level goes up instruction
is more intensified.
SWIM TEAM – Children entering Kindergarten to June graduate. They must be able
to swim 25 yards without a floatation device or stopping.
FAMILY SKI/SNOWBOARDING – The whole family is encouraged to participate.
Different packages are offered according to
ability. BARC gets a great discount from Willard
Mountain. You can ski the whole season.
TENNIS CAMP – The objective of this camp is to provide solid instruction to build
lifetime skills in tennis, create enthusiasm for the game, provide a
network of tennis relationships, and help the intermediate player
enjoy the beginnings of competition.
TRACK & FIELD CAMP – The objective of this program is to provide Ballston area
students with a recreational track and field team.
BARC SUMMER THEATRE – This educational theatre program begins in May and
concludes in August with a major production open to
the public. Its objective is to educate students in
acting, staging, set design, and other aspects of theatre
with professionalism as the focus.
